A day in a dispatchers life
- talk with the drivers in the morning, see if they are going to make the pick up or deliveries
- depending on that information we can start to plan our day or days, depending on the driver
- start making calls/emails to get the best load available
- sometimes we wait around and fish for that good load , that load that absolutely needs to move today and there is no truck available to pick up , only us , that is when we get the best paying rate from the broker/shipper
- keep in contact with the driver/owner and see they will accept that load or loads we can find , no forced dispatch! if you want the load we will book it , if not we keep on searching!
- do set up/s with the brokers and request credit checks before we pick up any load
- weather updates are consulted before we pick up a load that is going into a specific direct
- we already know what the problem shippers or receivers are so we are not going to book any load going into those places unless the driver agrees to go
- no forced dispatch no matter what the situation is, better not pick up a problem load and be ready to pick a good load in the morning.
- check payment status of customers invoices we send on your behalf to the brokers/shippers.
- try to book the easier loads available on the market because most of the time those are partial loads, but the brokers will say it is a full load just so you do not have time to pick up a partial load , but lucky for you , we have a 24/7 dispatch service available !!!!
